Imaging of lisfranc injury and midfoot sprain.
Injuries to the tarsometatarsal joint and of the Lisfranc ligament present a challenge. They are difficult to diagnose and outcomes worsen as diagnosis is delayed. As a result, radiologists and clinicians must have a clear understanding of the relevant nomenclature, anatomy, injury mechanisms, and imaging findings.

We report a rare case of simultaneous dorsal dislocation of 4 ulnar carpometacarpal joints and dorsoradial dislocation of the trapezium with an associated fracture of the scaphoid tuberosity. The injuries were diagnosed early and treated successfully with closed reduction and transfixation using Kirschner wires. The functional results were excellent at 17-month follow-up.
متن کاملMidfoot arthritis.
Midfoot arthritis is a common cause of significant pain and disability. Although the medial tarsometatarsal (TMT) joints provide < 7 degrees of sagittal plane motion, the more mobile lateral fourth and fifth TMT joints provide balance and accommodation on uneven ground. These small constrained TMT joints also provide stability and translate the forward propulsion motion of the hindfoot and ankl...
متن کاملTransmetatarsal and Midfoot Amputations
The objective of lower extremity amputation surgery is to create a viable, functional residual limb to maximize patient mobility and independence. When part or all of the forefoot is lost to trauma, infection or gangrene, and the hindfoot is viable, every attempt should be made to preserve as much foot function as possible. The use of the transmetatarsal level is common. In the past, amputation...
متن کاملOpen Anterior Hip Dislocation in A Child: A Rare Mechanism of Injury
Traumatic anterior dislocation of the hip is an extremely rare condition in children and open dislocation is even rarer. Thisisusually caused by high-energy trauma. In the current study, we present a case of an eight-year-old child suffering froman open anterior–inferior dislocation of the right hip concomitant with pelvic ring disruption and an ipsilateral open distalfemoral fracture (Salter-H...
